Cookie and Analytics Notice
Last updated: 29.05.2026
This notice explains how dmskey.com uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies.
1. What we use
Depending on how you use the service, we may use:
- essential browser storage needed for core functionality;
- preference storage, such as remembering analytics consent choices;
- optional analytics technologies if you explicitly enable analytics;
- security-related technical storage where necessary to operate the website or verify service state.
Because DMS is designed to work locally in your browser, parts of the product may also use local browser storage for device-side state such as license or entitlement information, preferences, and temporary operational data.
2. Essential technologies
We use certain technologies because the site would not work properly without them. These may include storage or identifiers needed to:
- load the site securely;
- remember core state needed for product operation;
- verify license or entitlement status on your device;
- protect against abuse and maintain service reliability.
These technologies do not require consent where they are strictly necessary under applicable law.
3. Optional analytics
Analytics are off by default.
If you choose to enable analytics, we may use analytics cookies, local storage, or comparable technologies to collect pseudonymous information about how the site is used, such as:
- page views;
- button clicks;
- route transitions;
- product flow completion events;
- limited device or browser metadata.
We use this information to understand which parts of the product are being used, where users get stuck, and how to improve the experience.
We aim not to send vault contents, recovery shares, or other obvious secret material to analytics systems.
Current implementation note:
- analytics are described in the product as opt-in;
- Mixpanel is the current analytics provider, using its EU ingestion host.
4. How to control analytics
You can enable or disable optional analytics at any time through the in-app Settings page (Privacy & analytics → toggle "Enable anonymous analytics" / "Disable analytics").
If you withdraw consent, future analytics collection from that device or browser should stop, subject to technical limits and normal reset timing.
5. Third parties
If analytics are enabled, analytics providers may receive limited pseudonymous usage information as our service providers.
Payment-related technologies may also be used by Stripe or related payment flows when you move into the checkout experience. Those technologies are governed by Stripe's own notices and policies as well as ours.
6. Retention
Retention periods for cookies, local storage entries, and analytics identifiers:
- analytics consent preference: until changed or cleared by the user;
- pseudonymous analytics identifier: 13 months (regenerated whenever you revoke consent);
- device-side entitlement cache: until expiry, removal, or local reset.
